Patta Chitra is a specialized art practiced
by skilled traditional "Chitrakaras". The chitrakaras
prepare a canvas by coating the cloth with a curious mixture
of chalk and tamarind seeds. The artist paints on this
leathery finish with earth and stone colours giving meaningful
expressions to their artistic skill and imagination. The
drawings can be used as book marks and colourful greeting
cards. |
